This syllabus comes from the Association of International Dance Teachers; based in South Africa, they have developed an extensive modern syllabus which strives to train technically strong dancers. Students can take examinations and earn credits which can be applied towards high school graduation. Along with dance movement, these classes introduce students to jazz terminology, music theory, and anatomy. This work is beneficial to all dancers whether or not they pursue the exam experience.

Students will be assessed during class and receive an exam letter if they are eligible to take the exam this year. *Exams are optional and an additional package fee will apply for those who choose to participate.

REQUIREMENTS ~ Students must:

  • be enrolled in intensive program (technique requirements)

  • be enrolled in a group class for the style of their solo/duo/trio

  • make attendance to ALL their classes a priority

Competing as a solo, duo or trio is a privilege that should not be taken lightly. Dancers taking private lessons will be held to a high standard and must meet special requirements. They will be expected to retain their choreography and show progress from week to week. Practice outside of class time is mandatory. Younger dancers will require parental assistance with home practice. Studio space is limited, and our teachers' time is valuable, therefore solo/duo/trio dancers must appreciate the value and privilege of a private lesson and work to deserve both.
